Your Social Media to Do Reminder

There are so many of us vying for attention on social media and we are all trying to establish an identity and attract new customers. Done right, social media is very valuable for businesses of any size.

Here is your social media to do reminder

Have a Plan

Posting at random won’t do you any favors. Without a plan, your social presence can quickly become just another time waster. Create a social media timetable which you can change and adapt per circumstance but can follow.

Mapping out and pre-planning your social media day doesn’t have to be another chore. Keep it simple and this will keep your focus and avoid you getting overwhelmed. While you are planning, identify business opportunities you can engage with and when they are most likely to be online. Do not ignore anyone who might be of use to your business or you consider the competition.

Also, focus on those social media accounts that have high numbers of engagement for your business. Track, improve and update your content on these platforms and research the best times to post on them. Be consistent and do not let your social feeds get old as it looks like you have closed business.

Allot time for experimenting with different types of content from short-form videos to stories and slideshows. Pick what option is suitable and works for you. You do not have to post memes because someone else is posting memes. Don’t assume that an approach that worked for someone else will work for you. Let your own engagement guide you.

Make the time Meaningful

As people are spending hours per day on social media, this is the time to catch their attention. The time you spend will serve you and your businesses well so do use the time wisely. Making your time on social media worthwhile and memorable means not always just talking about your business, be genuinely helpful, not salesy.

Answer questions from potential customers; take care of any arising concerns about your service or product from existing customers and new ones. Welcome new customers and remember you don’t have to mention them by name unless you have prearranged to do so.

Be authentic and avoid the “copy-and-paste” approach, it is very easy to tell when someone has copied something. So, make your comments your own even if you have to use vernacular. Always try to sound like you and no one else because injecting your personality into your posts is a good way to quickly relate to your audience.

Remember to answer questions and share advice with your audience. Gather feedback from both your new and your old customers and do reply to any posts you have been tagged in.

Jazz it up

Do more than post pictures and prices of your product. Feature recordings of a happy customer sharing their testimonials or take your audience on a virtual tour of your trading place. If you are good at something add a snippet of you working on the product or service or you explaining to people how your products work.

If you are camera shy you can feature real customers and let them highlight the value of buying from you. The more you do this the more the snippets about your business will go round or be shared in the social media groups.

Sharing different types of content makes a better first impression than “buy from me”. And remember there’s no “right” way to do this but start with looking at your target audience and figure out what content gets them engaged.
